The Harvard Digestive Diseases
Center, a digestive diseases
research core center funded by the
National Institute of Diabetes and
Digestive and Kidney Diseases,
carries out research in the area of
integrated epithelial and mucosal
biology, namely the gastrointestinal
epithelium and its interactions with
microbial flora in the lumen, and
with immunocompetent and supporting
cell types in the mucosa. Research
areas at the center include
epithelial barriers and connective
tissue interactions, pathogenic and
commensal microbial flora, and
complex cell populations responsible
for innate and acquired immunity.
Site resources include a list of
members, facilities descriptions,
pilot feasibility grant information,
seminar schedules, and information
on the annual symposium Frontiers in
Mucosal Immunology.
